Who am I?
I am Hammad Hassan Meherzadé: a man, writer and filmmaker (according to an MA certificate I got from a university in Londinium). I don’t remember much about my birth but I’ve been told it happened in 1983 in the town of Sargodha (or La Sagrada Sargoda as its Castilian name should sound) in the West Punjab.
What do I do?
Well, a lot of stuff but I have a special lust for film as an effective medium of expression and a powerful tool of storytelling. I’ve directed and produced several short films and documentaries pertaining different themes and extending over diverse genres. I usually write the script for my films too. Linguistics is another of my passions. Having natural flair of languages – I speak about nine and half languages (English, Urdu, French, Persian, Punjabi, Turkish and Spanish among others)– I write (or at least try to write) both poetry and prose in some of these languages; novels, short-stories and poems. I am currently translating an early 20th Century Turkish novel into Urdu.
